This is my mum, Ann, she taught me to knit. I'm not sure how old I was, around 6 I think. When we did knitting at school when I was a little older I was the only one who already knew how and I helped the teacher to cast on for all the other girl in my class; the boys did woodwork! I felt so proud and clever and that is how my knitting has made me feel ever since. Thank you mum.
Recently my mum has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and she has virtually stopped knitting. This makes me feel very sad. I have lost a connection with her that was very precious to me, and it is a small part of the bigger loss that we are all experiencing :( But I still have the gift she gave me when I was 6. My mum taught me how to knit, thank you mum.
